Some comments on your blogs

Good job with your blog posts! As nerdy as it may sound, I had a lot of fun reading them! They were worth 10 points, and you got full credit if you:
  • wrote about a political issue
  • linked to an article
  • met the 200-word requirement
  • briefly summarized the issue and included a personal response to it
Points Deducted if:
No link included
Too short
No personal response
Typos/proofreading errors

Some feedback regarding your blogs:
  1. I'm proud to see you using your wonderful Internet skills for an intellectual purpose. Keep up the good work! Don't forget to comment on 2 students' blogs by Tuesday!
  2. Please proofread! I noticed lots of errors that could've been fixed if you had read your post before publishing it. The "ABC" tool allows you to check your spelling! Use it!
  3. I noticed that some of you have played around with the colors and fonts. Feel free to spice it up and give your blog some personality, but make sure that your color combinations are easy on the eyes!
  4. A lot of you wrote about race issues, which is an extremely important and fascinating topic. Just make sure that you don't use the words "colored people". That term has a negative history attached because that's how they used to refer to people back in the days of segregation! An acceptable term to use is "people of color."
  5. It's fine to use quotes from the article in your blog post, but there's no need to paste the whole article on there! If we want to read the entire article, we can just click the link!
  6. I'm impressed to see that some of you have included pictures and videos to go with your blog posts. Images are powerful because they can often help increase our level of interest and understanding.
I really enjoy having all of you as students and I'm proud of how much you've grown and made positive changes in your lives over the years. I'm looking forward to a fun semester, so just stay on track because you're almost at the finish line!

Hey Ms. Morales, I have a quick question. If there is a topic related to government that I find interesting, can I post it up on my blog even though we don't have an assignment on it?
